It was sunny spring day at Ballan, about 80 km west of Melbourne, Victoria and a TV network series was being filmed in open farm country.
TV Film crews and actors were all over the place.
Then the alarm went off and it was all over a large Brown Snake that was sitting in the middle of the make up tent.
Who ya gonna call?
Snakebusters!
Two hours later the Snakeman rocks up, but the snake was long gone.
It had bolted just minutes after the call had gone out.
The snake handler was experienced and knew where to find the snake and within ten minutes he'd caught the massive brown thing and had it in a clear plastic box.
It was in fact a deadly Copperhead, not a Brown Snake as thought by the people who saw it.
Turns out that most people cannot tell the two species apart.
A week later the Snake man was grabbing a chunky big Brown Snake from the Flemmington Racetrack just days before the running of the Melbourne Cup.
So far so good, but what about the Red-bellied Black snake that turned up in a car in East Gippsland?
This time it was a snake catching lady onto the job.
Both snake and motorist were kept safe.
So who trains all the snake catchers?
The Snakeman, Raymond Hoser has trained and educated most of the better known snake handlers and snake catchers in Australia.
Over four decades he has trained and educated thousands of Australians to catch and handle snakes safely.
Raymond Hoser has done snake handler courses and trained people as snake catchers in all Australian states and territories, except Tasmania.
However he has trained lots of Tasmanians who have travelled to see him.
The Snakeman has trained people in North America, Africa and Europe and is regarded as the best snake handler on the planet.
When the Snakeman dies of old age, his legacy will be thousands of people from all around the world who are proerly trained and protecting both people from snakes and snakes from people.
The snake is of course Raymond Hoser, who also happens to be the world's foremost reptile expert.
Born in the UK, raised in Sydney, Australia, he now resides in Melbourne, Australia, which is a damp miserable place that happens to also be full of snotty angry deadly venomous Tiger Snakes.
